Description

From the organizers:

Free Mahmoud Khalil! Defend Freedom of Speech! Make Vermont Apartheid Free! Stop Israel’s Genocidal War Now! Free Palestine!

The US and Israel have broken the ceasefire and restarted their genocidal war on Gaza and escalated colonial settlement and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. The Trump administration has also launched an all-out assault on freedom of speech, arresting, detaining, and threatening to deport Mahmoud Khalil and many more Palestinian and Palestine solidarity activists. It is using that attack to carry out a war on higher education, already suspending $400 million in federal funds to Columbia University and initiating investigations of 60 other institutions, including Middlebury College.

Join us in Burlington for a rally and march on Palestinian Land Day. Land Day was first established on March 30th, 1976, by Palestinian nationalist leader Tawfiq Zayyad when he called for a national strike to oppose Israel’s confiscation of Palestinian land. People responded in massive numbers and were met with brutal repression by the Israeli Occupation Forces. Since then, Palestinians have commemorated that day as one of unity and solidarity in the struggle to reclaim their stolen homeland.

We will rally and march to demand freedom for Mahmoud Khalil, an end to Trump’s new McCarthyism, defense of freedom of speech, passage of Apartheid Free Communities throughout Vermont, an immediate ceasefire to Israel’s genocidal war, and the liberation of Palestine.
