Description

An informational session on the City Council’s resolution concerning the creation of an ad hoc committee to provide input to the City Council on what (if any) direction to take on redistricting the City. One committee member from each ward will be appointed by the various NPAs. This comes as a consequence of the 2020 census. This is an important discussion that merits serious deliberation, and the City Council wants the whole community, with representatives from each Ward, to initiate the conversation.

The meeting is by Zoom, with an in-person component taking place in the Bushor Room in City Hall to satisfy conditions for an Open Meeting. Resolution sponsors explain the resolution, its purpose, expectations, and timeline. This is not a forum to discuss the merits of one districting model or another – that work is reserved for the committee once it is seated. The eight ward representatives will be selected at the next meeting of each NPA.
