Description
Barrie Knapp speaks about the changes that have taken place in the Ahavath Gerim Synagogue interior since the building's construction in 1885, and how each congregation that has worshiped in the space -- including the newly established Ruach haMaqom -- has left a mark on the 134-year-old sanctuary that's located in Burlington's Old North End.
Knapp recently graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in art history. For an independent study research project, she studied the early 20th-century Jewish immigration in Burlington and will share some of her findings on how the community's various liturgical shifts are reflected in Burlington's synagogues.
