From Migrant Justice:

Press conference to announce an agreement between Vermont Construction Company (VCC) and the Building Dignity and Respect Standards Council (BDC) to monitor and enforce labor and housing rights for workers on VCC projects. VCC will become the first company in Vermont to join the Building Dignity and Respect (BDR) Program, requiring subcontractors on every project to abide by basic standards that protect the rights of workers to fair treatment, a safe workplace, and minimum standards for labor and housing conditions. Speakers at the event include:

  • Marita Canedo, Migrant Justice
  • Doug Mork, Building Dignity and Respect Standards Council
  • Cristian Santos, construction worker
  • David Richards, Vermont Construction Company

Vermont Construction Company provides home building, renovation, and maintenance services on projects throughout Vermont and neighboring states. The Building Dignity and Respect Standards Council is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that monitors and enforces worker-defined standards in the construction industry. The press conference is convened by Migrant Justice, a grassroots human rights organization founded and led by the immigrant community in Vermont.
