Description
Town Meeting TV's Bobby Lussier interviews Erica Quallen, Deputy Director of Capital Projects at South Burlington's Department of Public Works; Adam Cate, Operations Manager at South Burlington's Department of Public Works; and Dave from StreetScan about the upcoming project.
From the City of South Burlington:
Later in October, special scooters will be riding along the sidewalks and paths of South Burlington. What are they doing? The City has contracted with StreetScan to conduct an inventory of the condition of our 55 miles of sidewalks and 25 miles of shared use paths and check the ADA compliance of our sidewalks at every intersection.
StreetScan's E-scooter-based approach uses high-resolution imaging technology to collect sidewalk video and identify distresses such as cracks, tripping hazards, surface distortions, and uplifts.
This data will help South Burlington Public Works understand the condition of and make a maintenance plan for our infrastructure over the coming years in the most efficient and cost-effective way, as we continue to create a more walkable, bikeable, and accessible city.
